One Man’s Global Quest for a New Home (Interview)

For most of us, travel is a leisure activity: a temporary disruption of every day life. For Dave, travel is much, much more than that. It’s a means to an end.

Dave is on a global quest to find a place to call home. So far, that quest has taken him across Europe and Asia on an overland journey from Portugal to China. And there’s more to come, as Dave is still looking.

I caught up with him to find out more about what drove him to travel the world in search of a new home.

Most of the time, TravelBlogs focuses on written material. You know, blogs and all that jazz. Today, I decided to take a look at another medium that more and more travel bloggers are getting into: podcasting.

Some of these are by your everyday bloggers, while others are produced by major travel publications. But if you’re planning a trip, or just looking for some inspiration, these podcasts offer a refreshing and insightful look at destinations around the world.

Nerd’s Eye View

Pam Mandel is the nerd behind Nerd’s Eye View, a blog recounting her travel experiences, from local field trips to big adventures. Beautiful photos and engaging writing keep the blog refreshing and lively.

Hobo Traveler

Andy is the Hobo Traveler. For the past 11 years, he has traversed the globe endlessly, taking in 77 countries around the world. He has no intention of returning home.

The World By Sea

In November 2007, Derek set out with his friend to sail around the world, while helping charities and communities along the way by raising funds on his blog.

Le Blog Laura

Laura brings a lovely literary style to her travel journal, in which she shares about her experiences in France and the Mediterranean.

They broke the record and haven’t even reached Sydney yet.

      Life was nice and easy in the US for Rachael and Josh. Then, Josh’s employers gave him the opportunity to work abroad – in Dakar, Senegal to be exact. Rachael being a freelance writer/photographer made the decision to move that much easier. So, they packed up their belongings, including two dogs and headed off to Africa, where they will reside for the next couple of years.
