Thom lives by one very simple motto: “Go Play Outside!” and this he does for most of each year. You’ll find him driving the back roads to destinations unknown in search of adventure and inspiration. He continues to find both as he heads down the blacktop to somewhere new. Come along for a ride – the scenery is awesome.

Some years ago, a friend told Vicki Hatfield, “Don’t wait for when… Sometimes, when never comes.” Months later her friend passed away. But, Vicki embraced the advise and has been traveling ever since. That comment led to one of her inspirations, “I love the memories I have when I return home that I can wrap around me like a warm blanket on cold winter nights.”

‘Turning kids into travelers, one experience at a time.’ is a great lead-in for Anne Patrone’s site. Finding Frommer’s 500 Places to Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up (first edition) on a bookstore shelf set the wheels in motion and the explorations began in earnest. She and her husband, destination lists in hand, are now checking them off as they expand their children’s travel horizons.

Setting personal goals is something many of us do – Simi has been no different. About 10 years ago, she decided to cover 30 countries by the time she turned 30 years of age. She’s almost there. Sleeping (well, sort of) with baby alligators, participating in volunteer projects and contracting Dengue Fever have not crimped her style!

Traci Suppa and her family may live in a ‘small’ town (no Starbucks coffee shop) but that does not stop them from thinking BIG. BIG as in road trips and the attractions found off those all-too-often-traveled beaten paths. Have you been to the “World’s Largest Dairy Store” or seen the “World’s Second Largest Garden Gnome”? Traci’s family has and there are more BIG things in their road-trippin’ future.

Nick was a paramedic and Lianna, a travel agent. They both left their careers in Canada behind, crammed a bunch of necessary stuff into backpacks and ventured off to Asia for eight months. Guess what, whether together or separately, they haven’t stopped traveling yet. (One question… where is the toilet?)

Gibbering Madness: Snapshots of a Bizarre Life is a very interesting site to be sure. There, Alex weaves his web of real life adventures. The entries are written in true “mystery novelist” style and Alex will have you wondering if he’s been “channeling” Dashiell Hammett (The Maltese Falcon) or Herman Melville (Moby Dick). Something says the answer is “Yes” to both.

Armed only with a restored 1971 VW Westfalia camper van, their 4 (now 5) year old son Bode, and maybe a bunch of needed equipment, the Rehm family – Angela and Jason – headed off to explore. Explore what, you may ask? Canada, U.S., Mexico and then just head south. Their mission: learn languages, volunteer and be inspired. There have been ups and downs but their journey continues.
